Winter
Adventures
Spectacular Seeley Lake Snowmobiling Winter guests enjoy immediate access to the surrounding network of snowmobile trails , celebrates 300 miles of groomed trails leading to endless back country thrill. Ride directly from your cabin to access trails and services in town. Trailer parking on site at the resort.
Nordic Skiing Classic and skate can be enjoyed on an over 30k groomed trail system within a 5 minute drive. From your cabin door, cross country skiing abounds. For the back country enthusiasts, pick you peak!
Ice Fishing Whether you have a hut or not won’t really matter because ice fishing opportunities are steps from your door and winter fishing is said to be fantastic on Seeley Lake.
Living in the wild
Seeley Lake and the surrounding area is the natural habitat of many wild creatures. We pride ourselves in sharing these habitats with our wild friends. Our on-site wetland habitat is home to many birds, bats, ducks, otters and beavers and so many more wonderful animals. It is our hope that you have the opportunity to catch a glimpse of these friends while respecting them and their home.While visiting The Lodges on Seeley Lake, please remember that many species of wildlife call this special place home, you may encounter creatures that you don’t see when at home. Many are very curious so it is our recommendation that you keep all doors closed and do not open windows that do not have screens. Keeping your cabin free of unwelcome visitors is your responsibility, take care to keep our wild things wild.
The closest hike from your cabin This trail system is right in The Lodges backyard! It is a mellow, well maintained trail that winds through larch forest. One of the popular destinations on this trail is Gus, the largest larch tree in the country, estimated at 1,000 years old. Directions: From The Lodges go North on Boy Scout Rd 100 yards take a left onto Lars Kramen Rd. There is a trail on the Right. The trail ends at Seeley Lake Campground.
Morrell Falls
The Hike: The Morell Falls trail is a 2.3 mile hike into the Lolo National Forest. This is a fairly easy day hike that really doesn’t have any steep grades to it. The trail leads through tightly spaced stands of Lodgepole Pine, past the 23 acre Morrell Lake and onto to a series of waterfalls. Towards the end of the trail you wind around a marsh, then you hear the falls. Just past an old growth timber stand, it opens up into a small clearing and 90 foot Morrell Falls.
Directions: From Seeley Lake drive north ¼ of a mile to Cottonwood Lakes Road (FR 447). Take the first left at the fork then go 2 miles to West Morrell Road (FR 467). Turn north for 7 miles to Pyramid Pass Road. Drive only a ¼ mile north to Morrell Falls Road (FR 4369). Turn north again one mile to the trailhead.
Holland Falls
The Hike: The trailhead for 1.5 mile long Holland Falls National Recreation Trail starts at the end of Holland Lake Road. At the start of TR 416 you walk through mixed stands of Western Larch, Ponderous Pine and Red Fir, viewing an unbelievable Holland Lake, that’s so serene, so beautiful. At almost a mile the trail starts to climb at a steady grade up rocky slopes. A little further along you will come to a footbridge, crossing a small, sparkling mountain brook. Hiking another couple hundred yards up the trail, along the mountainside, you come to some rock outcropping giving panoramic views of the Swan Valley, Swan Mountain Range and the Mission Mountains. Hearing the falls now, you only hike a little a short distance before seeing the striking sight of Holland Falls.
Directions: Travel from Seeley Lake north on Montana Highway 83 for 20 miles Holland Lake Road. Turn east on the gravel Holland Lake Road 2.9 miles to Larch Loop Campground and past another 3/4 of a mile to the Bay Loop Compound turn-in where the trailhead starts.
Crystal Lake
The Hike: A moderate 4 mile round trip hike. It begins with a hike through beargrass fields, then you descend the west side of the ridge, traversing through ponderosa and fir trees. You come down to the green lush drainage and come up on crystal lake. At the base of the enormous Mission Mountains. This lake lives up to its name, crystal clear and crisp high alpine lake. Day hike or overnight backpack experience.
Directions: Travel north from Seeley Lake 15 miles until you read Lindbergh Lake Road. Take a right turn on USFS Road 79. Its is about 12 miles to the trailhead.
